August marks the first month of school and the first round of Elk of Month recipients! This month's ELKS Way pillar is EXCELLENCE.

There are many ways to exude excellence: these students did so by attending school on a regular basis during the first three weeks, being respectful to peers and staff, and having a good attitude after coming back to school. Congratulations to our August Elks of the Month! Keep being EXCELLENT!

August's ELKS Way theme was Excellence: these students displayed excellence by staying on task in class, showing staff and peers respect, taking pride in a clean and safe campus, and following directions when asked. Congratulations to our August Elks of the Month! Keep up the great work!

September's ELKS Way theme was Leadership: These students showed leadership qualities like lining up quickly and quietly when the bell rings, making good choices even when staff aren't looking, holding their peers accountable for following the ELKS Way, and displaying self-confidence wherever they go. Congratulations to our September Elks of the Month! Keep the great work!

October's ELKS Way theme was Kindness: These students showed kindness by looking out for their peers, conducting selfless acts, caring for others, helping staff and peers, being respectful, and treating others as they would want to be treated. Congratulations to our October Elks of the Month! Keep up the great work!

November's ELKS Way theme was Socially Aware: These students showed that they are socially aware by being good friends to their peers, showing empathy to peers and staff, and appreciating the differences that make us all who we are. Congratulations to our November Elk of the Month! Keep up the great work!

December's ELKS Way theme was Excellence: Some of the ways these students displayed excellence was by staying on task in class, showing staff and peers respect, taking pride in a clean and safe campus, and following directions when asked. January's ELKS Way theme was Leadership: Some of the ways these students displayed leadership was by following behavior expectations and holding their peers accountable to follow the same expectations, helping peers understand how to follow the ELKS Way, and by setting a good example of how Elks should behave when visitors are on campus. February's ELKS Way theme was Kindness: These students displayed kindness by helping their peers, helping staff, treating others and themselves with respect, saying please and thank you, showing staff and students at another school respect while on their campus, and being generally nice and polite. March's ELKS Way theme was Socially Aware. These students displayed social awareness by being empathic to their peers when they might be having a bad day, having respect for their school and community by keeping it clean, having good attendance, and modeling to others how to display our core values here at Elk Hills School District.
