Good Evening Elk Hills Families!
This is just a reminder that tomorrow, October 31, we will have our annual costume parade through the town, then Trunk or Treat in the parking lot, and finally, a costume contest and a display of each grades' decorated pumpkin! If you are setting up a vehicle for Trunk or Treat, please start setting up by 8:30am. Please note that tomorrow will be an early dismissal at 1:30pm and the after school program will not be operating. We look forward to seeing our students in their costumes and having a fun filled day! See you tomorrow!
Elk Hills Families:
We still have spots open for Trunk-or-Treat. Please call the office to be added (661)765-7431.
Thank you
Here are a few of the pumpkins that will be auctioned off on Monday. Each class is decorating a pumpkin like a book character for the Literacy Department.

As close out Red Ribbon Week on October 31st please join us for a parent workshop regarding vaping. Vaping is a major issue all around the country for middle and high schoolers. According to a recent study by the FDA 14.1% (2.14 million) of high school students and 3.3% (380,000) of middle school students reported current e-cigarette use (fda.gov). The workshop begins at 11:30 a.m.- right after we conclude our Halloween festivities- and ends at 12:15 p.m. We hope you will join us in the education necessary to help keep our students safe from the dangers of vaping.

Today we had our Red Ribbon Week Kick-off Rally. It was a lot of fun. Here are a few pictures with many more on our website.

Don't forget to sign up to join us for our annual Trunk or Treat event! Please email our Community Engagement Coordinator, Cassandra McGowan, at camcgowan@elkhills.org to reserve your space! The event takes place on Monday, October 31st. Set up begins at 8:30 a.m.

As Red Ribbon Week approaches Elk Hills School District would like to share with you how this week came to be- please watch this short video to learn more: https://youtu.be/wDkvX9yZz34.
Not only is Red Ribbon Week a reminder why staying alcohol and drug free is so important, but it is also a week of memorial for DEA Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena who, in 1985, lost his life fighting to keep drugs off the streets and out of the hands of children. Join us in remembering him and pledging to celebrate life by leading a drug-free lifestyle!
Red Ribbon Week begins Monday, October 24th and runs through Halloween.
Elk Hills Families, just a reminder that parent/teacher conferences have been moved to next week so we only have a minimum day on Wednesday this week. Next week every day is a minimum day.
Thank you
Dear Elk Hills Families,
It has come to our attention that Taft High does not have school tomorrow; however, this does not affect the Elk Hills School District calendar. We have a normally scheduled day tomorrow, October 17. See you tomorrow!
