Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Ayala, School Psychologist.
Hi, my name is Mrs. Ayala. I am the School Psychologist here at Elk Hills. This is my fourth year working at Elk Hills Elementary School. Prior to being hired on, I served Elk Hills for a year as a school psychologist intern. I have been working in schools for over 20 years in the following positions; after school program instructor, college tutor, Montessori assistant teacher, and Licensed Vocational Nurse. Although my job title has changed throughout the years, my passion has always been working with children and in education.
Outside of work I enjoy being with my husband and our families; traveling, exploring nature and attending sporting events and concerts.
I am originally from Orange County, CA. I lived on Oahu, Hawaii while attending the University of Hawaii. I have been living in Bakersfield for the last 11 years.
My goal this year is to support students on all levels; academically, socially, and emotionally.

All funds raised by the PTO will go toward the purchase of bounce houses for the Spring Festival, waterslide for our annual water day, supplying our amazing staff with goodies during Staff Appreciation Week, as well as Kindergarten and 8th grade graduation decor and reception. Elk Hills would like to congratulate our school wide Scripps Spelling Bee winner! Not only did she win the school wide bee, but she also was one of thirty-six students that competed in the Kern County regional bee! Congratulations Zynleigh!

Our 2nd and 3rd grade students will be heading to "Farm Day" at the Kern County Fairgrounds on Thursday, March 20. Students will learn about the local agricultural industry through exhibits, animals, and machinery! Please see the post below for more information!
Miss Julia
Position: AmeriCorps Youth Mentor
Length of Time at Elk Hills: 2nd Year
Hi, I’m Miss Julia, and I’m excited to be serving as an AmeriCorps Youth Mentor at Elk Hills for my second year. I have a background in photography and hold an associate degree in science with a pharmaceutical technology certificate. Currently, I’m pursuing a bachelor’s degree in science with a business analytics certificate.
I enjoy working at Elk Hills because of its intimate and supportive environment. The close-knit community allows me to build meaningful relationships with students and focus on their unique strengths and challenges. I love having the opportunity to provide personalized mentoring, helping students feel a sense of belonging while encouraging their personal growth and confidence. It’s rewarding to guide them as they develop the skills they need to thrive academically and socially.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, going to concerts, photography, and spending time with my family.
Hopes and Goals for the Year:
As a youth mentor, my goal is to inspire and empower students to recognize their potential, develop essential life skills, and pursue their dreams with confidence. I strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where they feel heard, valued, and motivated to overcome challenges. By fostering leadership and resilience, I aim to help students build a strong foundation for lifelong success and positively impact their communities.

Hello! I am the cafeteria aide. This is my first year working here at Elk Hills. I attended Elk Hills school K-8th grade and I enjoyed every year. I love cooking and spending time with my family. I am very excited to be apart of Elk Hills school. I am very grateful for this opportunity!

Read Across America Spirit Week
Elk Hills would like to congratulate our Whiz Kids team! Whiz Kids is an academic competition amongst the small schools. It consists of essay writing, science, math, social studies and an overall "super quiz." Our students brought home top place in the overall competition as well as science. We also had a 2nd place winner in the essay contest, three 2nd place winners in social studies, and one 3rd place winner in social studies! Also, a huge shout out to the Whiz Kids coach, Mrs. Wingle as well as Mr. Medina for teaching some of the content!
